I've written fiction all my life, but only recently discovered an entire world of expression through journalism. I particularly enjoy writing opinion pieces. It turns out I have a lot of opinions. I share some of them as the education reporter for a local newspaper, a venerable 75-year-old publication that has held on to its printed presence at a time when everything you want to know about anything is available online. Still, there's something about the paper in your hands, that smudge of newsprint on your fingertips. Can it ever truly be replaced? There I go with the opinions again. People on my editorial staff are getting tired of hearing from me, so I decided to start a blog. I don't know if it will be of interest to anyone, but I'm at a time in my life - the little birds flown from the nest, so to speak - when I feel I have a lot to share. My favorite response from readers at the paper is when they say they relate with something I've written. Perhaps you will too. If so, please let me know. I'd love to hear from you.
